The Race

• Description: This beautiful loop, on gently rolling terrain, starts at the old Perkinsville Power Dam (dam #1) on the Black River, runs downriver to North Springfield Reservoir on a mix of grassy trails and dirt roads, crosses over the river at the base of the North Springfield Dam (dam #2), runs back upstream on more dirt roads and grassy trails to just before Stoughton Pond Dam (dam #3), crosses through the Black River, which will feel great in late-August humidity, and finishes back at the Power Dam, adjacent to the best swimming hole in the area about 1/3 mile after the river crossing.

  Note about the river crossing: the river will be low – about calf-deep – and slow, we will have a rope across the river, and there will be a lifeguard there to assist if wanted.

  This is a benefit for Springfield High School Cross Country.
• Start Location: The event starts and finishes at the Power Dam Recreation Area off of Maple St. in Perkinsville, VT.
• Post-Run: We will have water, electrolyte drink, Wellwood Orchards cider donuts, Mama Kapfer chocolate chip cookies, and Otter Pops. Bring your swimsuit and the whole fam to enjoy the area's best swimming hole at the Power Dam.
• Prizes: 1st place Female and Male Overall, Kids (14&under), Youth (15-19), Masters (45-59), and Super Masters (60+) Plus whatever other fun, random prizes we decide to award
• Parking: There is plenty of room for parking by the start/finish area. We encourage carpooling.
• Refunds: No refunds, transfers to other runners, or transfers to other years. If you cannot run for any reason, please know your entry is going to a good cause. It’s a donation to the Springfield High School Cross Country Team. They thank you for your support.
• Music / Dogs: Music players are allowed, but please run with only one earbud in, be aware of other runners and traffic (there are short road sections near the start and finish where there may be cars), and use general caution. Well-behaved short-leashed dogs who enjoy post-race doggie treats are allowed.
• Virtual 10K: If you’re unable to join us in-person but still want to get your Triple Dam-on and make a donation to Springfield High School Cross Country, then register for our Virtual Triple Dam 10K for $10. We’ll make sure your donation gets to the harriers and if you send us your result, we’ll post your time in our Results section.
• Notes: The Triple Dam 10K operates under a special use permit with the US Army Corps of Engineers, and is an equal opportunity outdoor recreation service provider.
